Morrisons potato and meat pie, 60p

[Morrisons potato and meat pie]The name should really have given the game away - call me a finicky get but 'meat and potato' is surely the conventional way round? Ah, but there is a sound reason - this pie was was definitely all potato and no trousers.

And boy was the meat horrible anyway - low grade, chewy and gristly, tasting like something out of a Ginster's Cornish pasty. Now, we don't want to give away too many spoilers about the inevitable forthcoming Ginsters Cornish pasty review, but suffice to say that ain't a comparison we'd want levelled at us.

Mind you, we'd rather not be compared to a pie filling of any kind, really. Even something really tasty. "Oi! Smoked chicken and chanterelle mushroom features!" It's just not doing it for us. Anyway, back to the pie.

We'd expected good things from Morrisons, after their fantastic large pork pie. But whoever made the pastry should be sacked, our staff said...as they spent 10 minutes trying to peel off the bits of foil that had stuck to it.

A disappointing pub lunch pie of the lowest quality. Sorry, Morrisons. Stick to the pork pies.

Score: 2.67
