Farmer's market chicken and bacon in sherry, £1.50

[chicken and bacon pie] Very much a plate pie, despite its diminutive size - it fell apart leaving crumbs all over the floor. You wouldn't want to walk down the street eating it without one of those bright yellow cow-catcher bibs you had when you were small. And you'd look a right twit doing that.

Pastry was good, said the man who knows, as he bent to eat the bits of pastry off the floor. But everyone agreed that the pie was a bit much in its naked state, and dunked most of it in a vat of chutney.

The filling did what it said on the tin - it looked like chicken and bacon, and tasted like chicken and bacon too. We think the bottle of sherry was probably shown to the pie, and then taken away and drunk by the vicar, cos we couldn't find much evidence of that.
