what's in pie-man's fridge?

In October, we be mostly eating:

[pickles]Not a lot, actually. Pie-man went away on holiday, only to discover on returning that the fridge had turned itself off for three days, and was covered in a fine layer of black mould. There's about four jars of pickles, mustard and salad cream left unharmed, which doesn't really leave much room for manoeuvre. Mustard pickle sandwich, anyone? Thought not.

Luckily, pie-man had thought ahead like a good cub scout, and came back laden down with pate and sausage. Or to be more precise, saucisson de chevre, as it's the French salami type of sausage we're talking about, rather than your standard banger variety. Although you can't beat a good Cumberland sausage (it makes a rather fine sausage, onion and potato pie), this stuff has the edge with a nice beer, some olives and some cheese. Just make sure there's no mould...
